The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new virus that causes respiratory illness in people and can spread from person-to-person.  

This virus was first identified during an investigation into an outbreak in Wuhan, China and has now spread to other countries including confirmed cases in the United States.

How  long can the Coronavirus live on a surface?

The Journal of Applied Environmental  

Microbiology estimates that the Coronavirus can live up to 9 days  on surfaces.


How  does one contract Coronavirus?


Human coronavirus is most commonly spread from an infected person to others through; the air by coughing and sneezing close personal contact, such as touching or shaking hands touching an object or surface with the virus on it, then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes before washing your hands rarely, fecal contamination .

What can be done to reduce  exposure risks in my facility?


A1:  CDC, OSHA, State and local health departments recommend deep cleaning and disinfection of the facility along with a plan for ongoing cleaning and disinfection of high touch services.  Janitorial Experts can add a cleaning and disinfection program to your current cleaning schedule. A2: Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol based hand sanitizer. Janitorial Experts can assist you in purchasing  the correct hand sanitizer for your facility.


How  will Janitorial  Experts respond to your request for cleaning and disinfecting of your facility?


A1:  If a known or suspected case of Coronavirus has occurred in your facility a standard cleaning and disinfection procedure will be used (e.g., using cleaners and water to pre-clean surfaces prior to applying an EPA-registered disinfectant to frequently touched surfaces or objects for appropriate contact times as indicated on the product’s label).


 Janitorial Experts staff will follow OSHA guidelines for proper PPE use such as gowns, mask, eye protection, gloves and shoe covers. All cleaning materials  will be disposable to reduce issues of cross transmission.  


A2:  If the facility has no known or suspected cases of Coronavirus,  Janitorial Experts will still use disposable products and correct PPE  that will be disposed in the normal waste stream.
